DISABILITY NOTTINGHAMSHIRE hold Our Voice Community Choir every Thursday. They aim to unite people through music and showcase the potential of people with disabilities. The choir is open to anyone who has a disability or long-term health condition as well as their carers, family and friends. Why not join them for a really fun, feel-good, stress busting activity at only £1 per week including refreshments.

MANSFIELD AND SUTTON ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY will be holding their first public open evening of the 2018-2019 season. The evening starts with a talk using astrophotography images, many of which were taken by local astronomers. There will be a chance to view the wonders of the night sky through the main Newtonian reflector telescope, and a variety of smaller telescopes and binoculars. Refreshments, and astronomy themed merchandise will be on sale. There is limited free on-site parking. Admission - Adults £5, Under 16 £1.

The annual SOUTHWELL PLOUGHING MATCH is a show not to be missed. It represents all the important interests of agriculture from horse ploughing through the vintage years to the modern day tractor, a variety of livestock, static displays and trade stands. There will be horse jumping, a dog show, farmers market selling top class produce plus much more. Tickets on Gate, Adults £10, children under 14, free.

MANSFIELD MUSEUM will be hosting STARDUST MEMORIES featuring memorabilia of the late ALVIN STARDUST. Saturday 22nd September will be a Fan Day with a screening of Alvin on This is Your Life, question and answer sessions with Alvins Band and one of his sons. There will be a chance to meet Alan Williams of the Rubettes plus a raffle and film memorabilia. Any donations collected during the day will go to Prostate Cancer UK.

This year celebrating the Heritage Orchards 20th anniversary which was launched by celebrity gardeners Martin Fish and Jon Stirland who will be visiting during the day. FREE Apple Tasting, Cider Bar featuring Scrumpy Wasp Cider produced locally, dozens of stalls related to apples, fruit growing and general gardening. Refreshments and entertainment.
